The Journey of Wires Design

Who are we?

Wires Design is a small business based in southern Stockholm, Sweden. Wires Design Stockholm is run by the couple Linnea and David. Linnea is responsible for the design, craftsmanship and creativity of our products, while David is responsible for the work with the website, social media and other types of communication that come from the company. Our goal is not to become the leader, expand and sell on a large scale, but we stand for the small, genuine craftsmanship.

Ever since I was a child, I´ve loved to let my imagination flow. I started exploring creativity with large plastic beads already in kindergarten. Over time I moved on to smaller glass beads and started making more advanced jewelry. Hours could fly by while I was in my own world of pearls. However, I put the pearls away for several years to focus on other things.

Winter edition

It was in the summer of 2023 that the idea of creating ornamental trees from steel wire came to me, when I found the box of beads. In the summer sun out on the balcony, the first tree grew, namely the summer edition. Once I finished it, I realized how fun it was. I started right away with my second tree and let it reflect the cold beauty of winter. It made an excellent birthday present for a family member. But it was not the last birthday, the next birthday came a few months later, which meant that the spring edition was born. Shortly afterwards, the collection was complete when the autumn edition also came to life with its sparkling colours.

Spring edition

Last fall, I came up with the idea to display my trees on a website. I noticed that the word for my handmade wire trees had started to spread. I had the idea of creating a hobby business alongside my studies and work, where I can give vent to my creativity.

Said and done. Together with my partner David, we therefore created Wires Design, where I am responsible for the design and products, while David has designed the website and handles social media and contact with customers.

For me, the idea with this website has been to reflect the elegance of the trees Linnea produces and show the care that is behind them. Therefore, calm and harmonious color combinations have been selected, an elegant logo has been designed and soft movements have been animated.

In addition to the website, an important element for Linnea has been sustainability and slow fashion. Something that I want to permeate everything we do in the business. Everything from the fact that the trees are made to order - so that no material has to be thrown away, to the fact that we minimize the number of shipments and adapt the size of the packaging. The idea of sustainability is important in our time, and that is why we also donate 1% of our profit to the next generation of carbon dioxide removal.

Slow fashion

As a contrast to today's mass consumption and mass production, I want to go back to genuine and traditional craftsmanship. Each tree is created by hand and is allowed to grow at its own pace. It creates a unique tree where individual beads have been chosen with care.

Originality

A great charm of the trees is that each tree exists in only one copy even if similar colors are used. By replacing a single shade, the tree can have a completely new expression. There are therefore variations within all colours.

Sustainability

For us, it is important that the business does not contribute to a worse future for the environment. The products are made from sustainable materials. And when shipping, we always send everything at the same time in as small packaging as possible - and of course it can be recycled. Whenever possible, we reuse packaging we received when we buy. Availability

For us, it is important that those who enjoy the trees should be able to afford to buy, regardless of whether you are a student, retired or have a well-paid job. We therefore try to keep the price down as much as possible.
